QuietField
Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 27, 2026
QuietField is built so that your thoughts stay yours. This policy explains what the app does with your data — which is very little.
What we collect: nothing.
QuietField has no account system, no sign-up, and no server of ours that receives your content. We (the developer) cannot read your thoughts, transcripts, searches, or anything else you put in the app.
Where your data lives.
Everything you capture is stored locally on your device. If your device is signed into iCloud, your entries sync and back up through your own private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit), tied to your Apple ID. Only you can access it; we cannot. Deleting the app's data from inside QuietField ("Delete All") removes entries from your device and your iCloud container. You can also export all of your thoughts to a Markdown file at any time from inside the app.
Voice and speech.
Voice capture is transcribed on your device whenever your iPhone supports it — on-device is the default and is always preferred. If your iPhone can't transcribe on-device (an older model, or Dictation turned off), QuietField asks you first before using Apple's standard dictation, where the audio is processed by Apple under Apple's speech-service terms; we never receive it. Standard dictation is off by default and you can leave it off (and just type) from the app's Privacy settings. Either way, only the resulting text transcript is saved on your device — raw audio is never recorded or stored by QuietField.
Apple Watch.
If you capture a thought on the QuietField Apple Watch app, it is transcribed on your watch and sent to your iPhone over Apple's device-to-device connection (WatchConnectivity) — never to us or any server. A thought captured on the watch without your iPhone nearby is held on the watch and delivered to your iPhone automatically the next time it's reachable. Once on your iPhone it follows everything above: stored locally, and synced only through your own private iCloud if you have iCloud sync turned on.
Notifications.
If you turn on the optional daily reminder, it is scheduled locally on your device. No notification data leaves your device, and you can turn it off anytime in the app.
Analytics & diagnostics.
QuietField contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The app writes basic technical event logs (such as "a capture happened") to Apple's local logging system on your device for debugging, and uses Apple's MetricKit to receive on-device reliability diagnostics (such as crashes or hangs) so the app can be made more stable. These logs and diagnostics never include the content of your thoughts, transcripts, or searches, stay on your device, and are not transmitted to us. If you opt in to Apple's "Share With App Developers", Apple provides us aggregated, anonymized statistics and crash diagnostics under Apple's own privacy terms.
Purchases.
Optional premium subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through your Apple ID. We never see your payment details.
Face ID.
If you enable the app lock, Face ID/Touch ID evaluation happens entirely on your device through Apple's LocalAuthentication framework. No biometric data is accessible to us.
Children.
QuietField is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone.
Changes.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
